The Otto Research Initiative was founded by two international medical graduates to provide free education in research methodology. The initiative recognizes the challenges many international medical graduates encounter while pursuing residency, including limited access to research opportunities and pressure to pay for last-minute publications. Its goal is to help international medical graduates develop research skills and gain experience as published authors.

The Researchist is a scientific research community for early-career researchers. It organizes workshops and training in research methodology and provides research opportunities for students in the health sciences, engineering, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences.

Established by medical students at An-Najah National University in Palestine in 2019, the community has expanded to include students from universities in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and other countries.
